Poor value.
Cost per printed page too expensive, particularly when the internal chip is designed to artificially disable the cartridge to prevent it from being used beyond a pre-programmed point. Despite the fact that the cartridge can be refilled and remains in perfect working order. For this reason the cost per page may be more than 3 times what it need be.

Do you remember when we used to go to the local 10 o'clock shop to copy things? How much did the copies cost? ANSWER: 10p! Then we were seduced! Do you know that a copier only costs 50 GBP? So far so good. What was not explained that 30 - 35 GBPs worth of ink only does just over 100 copies! So now, what is the price of a copy? ANSWER: 30p! Yes, three times the price of the shop copier! It is not just Canon. All ink jet copiers/printers are the same. They should have a prominent sign on them, much like the warning on a cigarette packet, saying "WARNING: PRINTS FROM THIS MACHINE COST A MINIMUM OF 30p!". Then if we still purchased it, it would at least be on the basis of knowledge! How much does one have to pay for a printer/copier to bring the ink cost down to near 10p? ... That is what I would really like to know! In 2000 I was mugged in Manchester. This resulted in my financial detriment. The Canon copier has used a different means, but the effect is the same. Having said that, the printing quality of photos is not that bad, if only the manufacturers would be upfront about the true cost of using it! The printer at Jessops does a lot better job, but then, at 20k GBP, it certainly ought to! In conclusion, at present the photo kiosks have nothing to fear from the present batch of home printer/copiers! Again, if you find a copier with reasonable ink costs, please do tell me about it!
